Scott claims he and Laci went to sleep on the evening of the 23rd and awoke on the 24th. Below is a breakdown of these events. Laci Rocha Peterson, 27, was nearly eight months pregnant with her first child on Dec. 24, 2002, when her stepfather reported her missing from her Modesto, Calif., home.
College sweethearts Laci and Scott Peterson were married five years at the time of her disappearance. Scott Peterson said he had gone fishing Christmas Eve morning and returned home to find his wife gone.
Friends and family who believed the Peterson's were a happy couple were shocked to learn Scott Peterson was having an extramarital affair with Amber Frey, a single mom who says she was unaware Scott was married.
A Christmas tree in the dining room. Laci Peterson had already set the table for a family brunch planned for the next morning.
|
Based on information prior to this date, and events that happen in the coming days, it is reasonable to conclude that between 8:30 PM and some time the next morning, someone attacked Laci, killed her, and removed her body from the home. However, this is where things get very "murky" and we can only guess what could have happened. Scott's normal "bed time" is around 11:00 or 12:00 midnight. And normally wakes up around 6:30-7:30 am. When did Scott sleep on the evening of the 23rd? Also, why did Scott have such trouble when recounting the events of the 23rd and 24th to Amber in a later phone call? And what did Scott eat and when? We did not find any traces of "food or drinks" on his "fishing trip". Scott's food pattern is critical because he may have stopped somewhere while he was out that evening or early morning. We know he ate left over pizza on the after noon of the 24th, which was left over from the evening before. Was there enough pizza for Laci and Scott to have eaten, as well as have left overs? Was there any dishes left from the dinner? And what about breakfast dishes? I saw one coffee cup in the kitchen, why not two? I can see how Scott got away with lying and cheating, as a ex-friend of mine did it to my best friend for 10 years or so and no one knew. Was the photo and appearance at the Christmas party with Amber to "set a scene"? And if so why? I would also be curious to know how many place settings were made as well as was anything else like food "prepared" prior to this day for this bunch?

9:30 am - Scott Peterson says he left the house
while his wife was "watching Martha Stewart" which airs until 10:00 am,
and she was mopping the floor. 11:44 am incoming - from Lee Peterson, the call lasted just a few minutes according to cell records. 12:54 Boat Launch ticket costing $5.00 to launch his boat from the Berkeley Marina in the San Francisco Bay. Calls in afternoon were made or received while Scott was traveling away from the marina toward Modesto. Between 2:00 and 3:00 PM the Rocha's get a call from the market that the basket they ordered has not been picked up. Sharon Rocha calls Scott's cell phone, but no one answers. 2:12 PM check voice mail from the Berkeley Marina area. 2:17 PM Calls Laci cell phone 5:44 outgoing call made but is disconnect, the call was made from in Modesto. When Peterson went to his neighbor Amy Krigbaum's house in search of his wife, he blurted out that he had spent the day golfing. About an hour later, he had a different story for police, telling them of his fishing trip and eventually providing a marina parking receipt. Thirty to 45 minutes after he returned from his fishing trip to an empty house, Scott Peterson phoned his mother-in-law and said his wife was "missing." Sharon Rocha found his word choice alarming and peculiar. "It wasn't that she wasn't home or he couldn't find her; he said 'missing,'" she testified. He also, at another point, not sure the exact time, apparently calls Amber and says he is still back east with his family hunting. She hears a shower in the background. Scott must have used his home phone for this call as cell records do not show it, that I have found. Scott and Laci's mom, along with Police search the nearby Park, no sign of Laci after Laci's stepfather reported Laci missing. When initially questioned Peterson "couldn't say" what type of fish he had been trying to catch in the bay, Detective Jon Evers testified. |
Scott Peterson is "Normally a cell phone Heavy User" and phone records show many calls to friends and family, including Amber on many days, except this day, no calls to Amber or Friends were made from his cell phone. Is Scott calling his voice mail to establish a
time and place, or was there some other reason? Being it is Christmas
Eve, business calls are all but non existent, friends and family, usually
taking care of last minute holiday preparations and Amber thinks he is
"out of town". At no point does Scott tell his dad he was fishing, and spoke to him before and after. Why? I feel it is possible Scott is calling his home making sure "the coast is clear" and making sure he doesn't need to make any other "change of plans". Curious that his only calls via cell phone are between he and his father. What could this mean? From statements Scott made to police on the 24th I feel I can conclude that when Scott returned home from his fishing trip, (180 miles round trip) at the Berkeley Marina, he had expected to find his wife, Laci, getting ready for their Christmas Dinner at Laci's parents that was being served at approx. 6:00 PM that evening but did not.. rather Scott, upon returning home washes his clothing, from the fishing trip, takes a shower, and gets dressed. Then Scott eats "left over pizza" between 4:30 and 5:00 on that afternoon, again approx. one hour prior to the planned dinner. At this point Scott would have no way of knowing if Laci is at the store, neighbors, or was due back any moment, ready to leave for the Dinner. Why would he eat? So, I have 2 Questions at this point, did Scott get dressed into his clothing for the Dinner, or something more "comfortable". My second question is, based on what I know, Scott's clothing was still in the washer, but how "damp/dry/wet" were these clothes and is it possible we could determine the amount of time they "sat" in the washer between the time Scott washed them and when the police located them. And what if anything, could this prove?

Jurors reviewed several large maps of San Francisco Bay, including this one which shows Brooks Island and Berkeley Marina, where Peterson launched his boat. Peterson told police he fished for sturgeon off the island, which is in shallow water about two miles from the marina.

In the days following police searched the Peterson home and warehouse. The photos were taken on or about the 24th - 27th of Dec 2002, the testimony given at the Double Murder Trail in August 2004 in Redwood City, Ca. Police who searched the Peterson home Dec. 24, 2002, found two mops and a bucket outside the couple's front door. The concrete around the bucket was still damp. Peterson told detectives his wife was mopping the kitchen when he last saw her alive. The couple’s housekeeper, however, said she mopped the entire home the day before and Laci Peterson did not clean in between her visits. Peterson said his wife was using the mops and bucket to clean the floor that morning when he left and he had moved them outside when he arrived home that afternoon. Prosecutors' question Laci Peterson's ability to mop when she was eight months' pregnant, and the couple's housekeeper said she had mopped the house the day before.
Scott returns home after midnight from talking to police. |
Did Scott use this day after the housekeeper came to be another critical day for his planning so that when he cleaned the scene, it would not look to out of place because the home was just cleaned. I wonder if the housekeeper used both mops, or just one of them. I just can not picture Laci using 2 mops to mop the floor during Martha Stewart, as Scott claims. If Scott was how home when something "spilled" on the floor that needed mopping, how with any human feelings could he allow his wife to mop the floor in her third trimester of her pregnancy and not insist on mopping the floor for her? Friends and family start searching for Laci in the surrounding area. I wonder if he made any calls to friends or family from his home phone.
| Dec 25 |
On the evening of Dec. 25, just a day after his wife went missing, Scott Peterson asked the lead detective to use "cadaver dogs" to look for his wife in the park. "I told him I hadn’t considered her being dead yet ... I was kind of surprised he was asking me," Detective Al Brocchini testified. Peterson said his wife planned to take a walk the morning she went missing, but police scent-sniffing dogs indicated she left her home Christmas Eve morning not by foot, but by car. The bloodhound and retriever used had previously found trails that were much older than Laci Peterson’s, and they tracked her scent to "the body of water where the victims' bodies were recovered." |
Friends and family search for Laci in the surrounding area. Who did Scott spend Christmas with? Why would Scott want the police to use cadaver dogs? We can tell Laci never made it for her walk as her purse, key's and cell phone remain in the home as well as her shoes and later her shirt was found balled up in a drawer on the second search later in January. According to the trainer the bloodhound used in this case can track scents as old as 14 days. The dog picked up Laci's trail on the Berkeley Marina on the 4th of Jan.

Detective Dodge Hendee holds a pair of pliers he found under a seat in Peterson's boat in this photo taken during the Dec. 27, 2002 search of Peterson's warehouse. A 5- to 6-inch dark hair is barely visible looping through the teeth of the pliers and then down to the ruler on the bottom right of the yellow placard.
Hendee testified that he saw the outlines of five circular objects in dust on a flatbed trailer in Peterson's warehouse. Prosecutors noted that the outlines were identical in size to a plastic pitcher apparently used to make cement anchors. Only one anchor was found after Laci Peterson disappeared.
The five outlines and the plastic pitcher were marked with evidence placards during the search of the warehouse, Hendee testified.
Hendee said a gray powder covered much of the trailer.
Police found a homemade cement anchor in Peterson's boat. Prosecutors have hinted that an anchor like this could have been used in disposing of Laci Peterson's body.
Modesto Police Detective Allen Brocchini testified that he saw "freshly dried" concrete on the edge of the Peterson's driveway and collected it for testing. Laci Peterson's brother Brent Rocha said he asked his brother-in-law what became of concrete anchors he made and Peterson replied he had used them in the driveway.
This was one of several fishing licenses found in a plastic envelope in Scott Peterson's pickup truck. It covers two days in 1999. The licenses may be used by the defense to demonstrate Peterson had a long-standing interest in fishing and was not using his trip to the bay Dec. 24, 2002, as a cover story to dispose of his wife's body.
Peterson had several fishing licenses, including this one valid for Dec. 23 and Dec. 24. Prosecutors say the fishing trip Dec. 24 was a cover story for disposing of his wife's body, although the defense claims there was nothing unusual about his trip. Peterson told authorities his fishing trip Dec. 24 was a "that morning"
decision, but the two-day fishing license he had began Dec. 23.
While the lures Peterson purchased Dec. 20th were found unopened, a tackle box in his boat contained several older lures.
Scott Peterson stored this 14-foot aluminum boat in his fertilizer warehouse. Whether his wife knew about the boat, which was purchased on Dec. 9, 2002, is a key issue in the trial. Prosecutors have theorized that Peterson used the boat to dispose of his wife's body.

It has been argued that these pliers did not mean much, and while they may not, by themselves, I think what they do show is that Scott cleaned up but missed these, being they were found under the seat he would not of been able to see them as he moved around the boat. And the fact Laci's hair is wrapped in the pliers kind of eliminates the possibility that they were left under the seat by the previous owner. And moreover, it is not like Scott owned this boat for years or even months, he owned it for just weeks, and the fact that her hair ended up under the seat, wrapped in the pliers, does not look good for Scott. I do not know 100% what to make of the cement, except of course it was possibly used to weigh the body down, but I question, why was it left such a mess? Everything was cleaned up very well, except for this. Also, is it possible the hammer we see in the picture could have been used in the crime? Also curious to know the relation between this and what Scott was talking to his brother-in-law Brent about, when they were talking about the cement. It has been reported that about 70 to 80 lbs. of cement are unaccounted for. In a call on Jan 16 at 1:46 Between Scott and Brent Rocha - Scott - "I made a boat anchor with some cement and I put some in the driveway here" Brent say "so they are piecing all of this together? Scott "Yea, piecing together" Brent says "Circumstantial" Brent "So the police have already asked you about the cement?" Scott - "Oh yea..." I also see a spot on this photo near the hammer that is not in the other photo's, and some things appear to be moved around. Scott may have fished in 1999, according to fishing license found in his truck. But to prove this is not "planted", I would have to ask, when did he buy his truck and do any of the long expired licenses pre date the purchase date of the truck? And where was it in the truck? Scott may have been "fishing " before , but that notwithstanding the fact that Scott purchased an Ocean fishing license on the 20th, good for the 23rd and 24th, meant he knew he was going to need it for going to the Ocean one or both of those days, yet told nobody about his plans. He actually told people before and after that he went golfing, this is what I think was he major mistake. I wonder if anything is buried under that cement, has it been dug up? Did Scott have a lifevest aboard, and if so, how many? Did these come with the boat, or did he have them, or were they purchased at some time. Where there any oars or paddles on board the boat? The tacklebox, while it looks full, and even dinged up a little, it looks overall cleaner than I recall my tackleboxes looking over time, but maybe that is just me.

The Peterson's housekeeper said she left the dirty rags in the bucket on top of the washer when she left on the afternoon of Dec. 23, 2002. When police arrived the next day, the rags were unwashed on top of the washer, the clothes Peterson wore fishing were in the washer, and the hamper in the couple's bedroom was full. The police found two shirts and a pair of jeans in the Peterson's’ washing machine. Peterson told them he washed his fishing clothes when he arrived home. Detectives noted that Peterson had to remove dirty towels from the machine to do the wash and that the hamper in the couple’s bedroom was full.
The first police officers who arrived at the Peterson home on Christmas Eve said there were no signs of foul play, but a few things, including this rug, did arouse their suspicion. The rag rug was originally scrunched up "like an accordion" against a door leading out to the couple's vehicles. When one officer pointed out the rug to Peterson, he said the cat and dog had probably been playing. He then straightened it out with his foot, leaving it in the position that police later photographed it in.
Peterson said he went fishing about two miles from the Berkeley Marina near Brooks Island. He described the island as having dilapidated piers and a "No Landing" sign.
The Peterson's had prepared this nursery for their son, Conner, who was due in February. The theme of the room was nautical, a fact the defense says underscores Scott Peterson's lifelong love of fishing and the ocean.
A Christmas tree in the dining room. Laci Peterson had already set the table for a family brunch planned for the next morning.
This is the Peterson's living room with a view toward the laundry room. Stacey Boyers, a friend of the couple, said she saw Scott Peterson vacuuming in front of the washer and dryer on Dec. 25, about 24 hours after his wife vanished.
|
Scott did several odd things when returning home from his "last minute" fishing trip. He washed his clothes, took a shower, at some point called Amber from his home phone, and ate some pizza, all before going to the neighbors to see if they saw Laci. He told neighbors he was golfing, and later told police he was fishing. He also straightened the rug in the picture to the left that was scrunched against the door, claiming "the cat or dog must have done it". Since he lies about everything else, I find it hard to believe this and think the rug got scrunched up as he dragged Laci from the home. I am still researching all the details around the "fishing story" and where the bodies washed up along with bridges that crosses the water and other waterways that feed into the Bay. From what I can see on a map of the whole area I see waterways as South as Buttonwillow and others North and just West of Modesto, off backroads. All these waterways go to one place, the Bay. Not that it is significant, but I can not help but notice the lifepreserver in the picture of Connor's room and wonder if Scott bought that. Also wondering what if anything was on the empty shelf behind the mobile, could it have been something heavy? While we see a Christmas Tree in the picture to the left, why do we not see is a Christmas Tree Skirt, and I only see one Present, and on Jan 10th Scott says "I finally got the guts" to open the gift from Laci, it was a table saw. Oddly, his friend replied "I could use one of those" when Scott tells him about it. I am pretty sure the package we see is the table saw, there are 4 other presents wrapped to the right of this picture we can not see. Did Laci's family ever get any presents from her or Scott? And if not what happened to them? And was there ever a skirt there, could it maybe have been removed at some point to remove evidence? Why was Scott vacuuming 2 days after the housekeeper came and cleaned up? Why are the shades drawn, it was reported that Laci liked a "open" home and would usually have all the blinds open. A neightbor reported the shades not going up on the morning of Dec 24th. I see what looks like a nightgown on the sofa, but don't know what to make of it, other than Laci was changing at some point for bed in or near the laundry room when she was attacked.

The closet in the Petersons' spare bedroom. Police noticed two duffel bags out of place. Peterson explained he was "a slob."
The first police officers on the scene found Laci Peterson's purse in her closet in the master bedroom. According to Scott Peterson, nothing was missing from the purse.
Scott Peterson later inspected the contents of his wife's purse, including her wallet and sunglasses, and said nothing was missing.
|
Scott claims he was "a slob" when asked about the out of place bags, however, besides the mess in the warehouse with the cement, I do not see him as fitting that description. What I do find interesting in this picture is not what is moved, but what is sitting on the shelf in the place where the bags belong, and that is the thermos, it is a 1/2 gallon jug I believe, I used to sell those type. Why I find this interesting is it is possible that Scott was using this to mix something that Scott put in Laci's drink that was making her weak and tired and giving her swollen ankles. I also take notice to all the books in the room and wonder if they were Laci's or if Scott was the avid reader? In the photo of Laci's closet, not only do we see her purse is still in tact, but I notice that at some point she switched from wood hangers to plastic, could this be a sign of saving money, and thus follow the "money problem" theory? I think Scott knew he had to do this without her having shoes on because shoes so often fall off or float up or show up before anything else does and could have given away the bodies location.

Police searching Scott Peterson's Ford pickup on Christmas Eve found these umbrellas, which Peterson said he used at fertilizer trade shows.
Controls to the Petersons' Christmas lights were in one of two sheds on their property. A neighbor testified she observed the lights come on during the afternoon of Dec. 24, 2002, but Peterson told police he did not turn them on.
|
Scott could have used these umbrellas to hide his movement at times, though it seems unlikely we just can not know everything, but we do know they were in the pickup on Christmas Eve. Why? If these lights did come on during the day, and Scott did not turn them on, as he "claims", then whomever did probably would have had to have knowledge of the home and location of the switch, given the controls were in a shed.
| Dec 27 Cont. |
Police carrying out a search warrant on Dec. 27,2002 found the brown tarp in a shed in the Petersons' backyard. When they searched his truck on Christmas Eve, the tarp was in the back of his pickup.
The Petersons' backyard included a patio, a hot tub and a shed. When police searched the shed on Dec. 27 2002, they found a tan tarp under a leaf blower.
The tan tarp found in the shed was drenched with gasoline from a leaky gas blower. Crime scene technicians hung it on a fence to dry out. In his opening statement, prosecutor Rick Distaso noted that gasoline kills biological material, such as DNA and blood.
A curling iron rests on the counter in Laci Peterson's bathroom. Her husband told his mother-in-law that she was curling her hair as he left the house on Christmas Eve morning for a fishing trip.
|
I think we would know a lot more if police would have gotten the tarp back to HQ before Scott was able to put it in the shed under a leaking gas blower. Being a fertilizer salesman I think Scott had a certain amount of knowledge about chemicals as coupled with how "smart" he thinks he is along with possibly reading books or seeing movies about murder and thought he could "commit the perfect murder", but as we see, failed. The tarp could have been used to wrap Laci in and subsequently transported to her final resting place. In the last photo, and statements from Scott to his mother-in-law, we now find out Laci was also curling her hair, along with mopping the floor with two mops, and watching Martha Stewart. I do notice two other things in the picture of the bathroom, one, the shade is up, which is consistent with how Laci normally kept the blinds, and the other thing is the lack of other items for "getting ready", though I could be missing them.

Two policemen testified that they were walking down this hall from the couple's bedroom to their living room when one of them asked Peterson what type of fish he was trying to catch on the bay. According to both officers, he had no answer.
The bed in the couple's master bedroom was neatly made when police arrived. One of the officers rested Laci Peterson's purse on the corner of the bed as he inspected her belongings.
A police detective testified that he found tiny spots resembling blood on the comforter in the Peterson's master bedroom.
|
Scott is never very consistent with his stories, and since he knew the golfing alibi was blown, and he told police he was fishing, he forgot to tell them what type of fish until later. I have seen several instance where Scott does "forget" things, and I think this is because he was so busy working on his "Lie", he does not have time to notice, or remember the truth, or what is really going on around him, he is oblivious. My biggest question of course is, did Laci ever make it to bed that night. From the looks of things, she never did. It has been argued that this blood may have come from the back of Scott Peterson's hand during or after the struggle. However, since it was the Peterson's home it can be explained why his blood is in his own home, had this been blood of someone else, that would help the defense, but it is not, it is Scott's.

When police arrived on Dec. 24, 2002, a phonebook lay open on the kitchen counter. Peterson told police he was planning to call hospitals in search of his missing wife.
Friends and family search for Laci in the surrounding area. Scott calls Amber and tells her he is in Boston and waiting for a plane to fly to Europe. |
The only thing I notice odd in this photo, besides the phone book open, is the single coffee cup, who's was it, and how old is the coffee? Scott's statement is kind of odd, since I would think he would have called her doctor or the hospital that was set up to deliver the baby, come the time, not just some random hospital, and he would have those other numbers handy, or at least he should of.
| Dec 28 |
Scott calls Amber and says he missed his flight and that he is in New York. He also tells her that he will spend the holidays in the future together and that he would like to take her to New York like for Christmas like they do in the movies. |
Friends and family search for Laci in the surrounding area. Scott continues his plan with keeping Amber on the hook, why? It is not like he is planning any meeting soon, so could not really be for "sex", in my opinion.
| Dec 29 |
Friends and family search for Laci in the surrounding area. Scott tried to call Amber twice, and Amber tried to call Scott at least once. In the evening hours Amber receives a call and is told Scott is the husband of the missing Modesto woman. Amber calls police. |
What did Amber say to police when she called them? A) I am Scott mistress and I fear if he did this I might be next? B) I am Scott's friend and he is out of town and could not have anything to do with this, he left on the Dec 22nd and reports were Laci disappeared on Dec 24th.C)I am Scott's friend/mistress and I was told Scott is still in town and want to help, he told me he was leaving town on the Dec 22nd.
| Dec 30 |
Amber phones police a second time and the detectives come to her home and interview her and her friend Shawn Sibley. The detectives also gather evidence from Amber's including the gift Scott gave her - an "astronomical device" for seeing stars - photographs of them together - unused condoms - and tuxedo rental receipt. Amber agrees to start consent recordings between her and Scott. The police also have a warrant to such effect that was issued in the early hours of the morning of Dec 30th. |
While I still find odd things in the relations between Shawn, Amber, and Scott, I am glad she worked with police in order to clear herself better than Scott did. I question why Scott got Amber involved, if possibly it was to use her to throw suspicion on when he did what he knew he was going to do more than a month out.

Three witnesses testified that Peterson's behavior at the candlelight vigil seemed inappropriate for a worried husband. One woman said he showed no emotion during the service and was grinning as he "socialized" with friends afterwards. The jurors saw this photo which appeared in the Modesto Bee.
Jan 1 Scott claims he got Amber a postcard (from "Paris") and is writing her a letter, but does not know where to start. But um..hum I've got nothing." Amber - "You've got nothing?" Scott - "I can't think of anything right now" - Amber - "hum!" (clears throat) Scott - "I should have a resolution everyday, huh?" Jan 01 (New Years) call between Amber and Scott (Page 7 of 42) Amber "...I wish I would have verbalized more to you before you had left about how I felt about you and everything" Scott - "Well, It is understood" Amber - "It's understood?" Scott - "Yea, you don't have to say it, you know ..." Same call a few minutes later (page 8 of 42) Amber "..I don't even know when your coming back " Scott - "Less than a month now." Amber - "Less than a month now?" Scott - "Yeah, it's better for me at least" Amber "It's better for you?" Jan - 01 - pages 14-17 on the transcript - Scott mentions a big part of him loves and cares about Amber, three times on these pages. |
Presumably Scott was going to meet Amber's daughters grandparents, at the daughter's B-day party in the coming month and he is "perfectly fine with it" and does not question so much as their name or any other details about them or the child's father at this point. (note, they JUST spoke of Scott not traveling so much, but he forgot!)

They speak about "Love" and "Love at first sight" Scott says "Yea, I believe in Love at first sight" but finishes it up with "but it does not mean it can last forever" | When Scott was asked if he "believed in Love at first sight" His answer was delayed as he "thought" about it, however, one rarely needs to "think" about what they believe, given the fact that if it is a "belief" then you have thought about it for quite some time.

Scott returns to the Berkeley Marina where he went fishing on Dec 24th, the day Laci went missing. He looks out over the water and watches while divers and searchers "Drag the Bay" in search of Laci's body. At the time, information was gathered leading police to this spot which included the possible scent of Laci near the docks by police dogs 2 days prior. 11:02 PM Scott calls and tells Amber that he is the husband of the "missing Modesto woman" - Amber asks "You came to me in December and told me that you "Lost your wife", what was that about? Scott says - "She's alive" Amber - "Where?" Scott - "In Modesto" Scott and Amber call continues Amber tells Scott "You have a missing pregnant wife and you're talking to your girlfriend - hmmh - hmmh" - (Long pause - Dead Air) Amber then asks "Did you think about that one?" - Scott replies "I know it sounds terribly...." Jan 6th Amber "In your heart do you fell she will be found alive" - Scott "I am losing hope" Jan 6th Amber "have they found anything?" Scott - "No, otherwise I would not be free - they have so little to go ..." (on) Jan 6th - Scott says to Amber "Well .. gosh, you don't need anything else tough in your life." - Link http://www.courttv.com/trials/peterson/docs/wiretap0106a.html?page=2 Jan 6th call - Scott says "I hope you don't get hurt by being involved in all of this" Peterson claims his wife knew about the relationship and had "made peace" with it, but she never mentioned it to her sister or mother and Peterson denied it to investigators until Frey came forward on her own. Scott turned in the Dodge Neon for a Honda Civic and keeps this car for a couple more days. |
Between the scent the dogs picking up Laci's scent and the fact that Scott said he was fishing in this Bay on the 24th, by his own admission, gave police good reason to believe the body of Laci may lie in these waters. For at least part of the past two weeks Amber knew Scott had lied about his business trip to Paris because she was notified by her friend that Scott was the husband of Laci, the now "missing woman". She subsequently contacted police and agreed to record conversations between her and Scott starting on the 30th of Dec.
| Jan 8 | Scott Peterson added adult programming to his satellite
television service in the weeks after his pregnant wife vanished, a witness
testified at the former fertilizer salesman's double-murder trial.
Donald Toy, a manager for EchoStar satellite TV service, said Laci
Peterson first ordered the DirectTV service at the couple's Modesto home
on March 13, 2001 without the adult programming option.
But on Jan. 8, 2003, about two weeks after he reported his wife missing, Scott Peterson changed their account to include the Playboy Channel and altered the service again five days later to include more explicit adult channels, Toy said. http://www.thekcrachannel.com/petersonontrial/3610905/detail.html Scott also turned in his Civic this day for a Sonoma pick up truck from Enterprise rental car in Modesto. |
The fact that Scott Peterson ordered adult programming in the "home he was not staying in" is very odd to me. He then ordered more explicit adult channels 5 days later, this to me, shows he knew Laci was not coming home ever again.

Scott returns to the Berkeley Marina in his rented Sonoma pick up. Scott calls Amber at 9:01 PM - They talk about how Amber is upset with Rita Cosby how she is reporting about her photos and past. Scott shows protection of her in the phone call. |
Why does Scott keep switching cars and returning to the Bay? It has been argued that Mark G. used this Jan 9th call to get in the fact that Amber had "nudy" pictures, though I do not think anyone really cares at this point what Amber did years before Scott brought her in this mess.

Scott opens his Christmas Gifts from Laci - She got him a table saw Wire taps start on Scott's Phones |
In a later call to his friend Scott says how he "lost it" for a couple of hours after opening the gift from Laci. |
Laci and Connor will always be in our hearts and prayers and can only pray that the truth comes out and Justice is served.
