10:48 am - Scott speaks with his Mother - says he was near Fresno, Cell Towers placed him at the Marina. Scott was at the Berkeley Marina (based on Cell Tower information)
and retrieved a voice mail message left from his Mother-in-law at
1255 PM. At 12:56 Scott returns the call to his mother-in-law - Sharon says she called the Peterson family that they did not find Laci in the search. Sharon then made mention that she wanted Police to find a "blue pickup" that Kim Mcgreor saw - then spoke of a Prayer Vigil on that night, and if they are going to attend. Sharon says "I forgot about it" and Scott says he is in Bakersfield (but is still at the Berkeley Marina) and that he will pass out flyers and be back around 5 PM. 1:01 - Scott talks to his Dad. 1:25 - Scott leaves a message for Mike Richardson 1:31 Scott speaks to Heather Richardson - Scott claims he is in Buttonwilliow on route 5 - Scott tells her they found a "Big 'ol Anchor" and Shelaguhs - Scott says he wants to visit them soon. 2:02 PM Scott calls Robert Weaver - Scott says to him "..they had all this sophisticated sonar stuff out there and they found an object they thought was a body" Robert - says "yes?" Scott continues "and they had 60 divers out there today", Robert reply's "Oh my God." - Scott "and they found an anchor" Robert "Sweet, that's nice" Scott - Yea, nice huh" Robert "Good job, maybe they can sell it and make some money" Scott "Huh yea excellent" Scott and Robert continue to chuckle and joke about the anchor, before hanging up. Reported on CourtTV by Beth Karas on 8/25/04 Read transcript between Scott and Heather Richardson - Scott says "They just found a 'ol boat anchor!" Heather responds "Oh Shut-up!
|
"The Killer returns to the scene of the crime." I feel it is clear that Scott is "Vigil Dodging" Scott continues to lie to friends and family about his location when making the calls from and leaving the Berkeley Marina.
| Jan 12 | Scott upgraded the "adult programming" on his dish unit " later to include more explicit adult channels, Toy said. | Not sure what Scott was thinking, but it does not look good for him. | ||
| Jan 15 | Scott's parents and Laci's parents were told about Amber and Scott's affair and Sharon Rocha agrees to consent taping of her phone calls with Scott. Word starts to leak about the affair as the National Enquirer gets ready to break the story. | Prior to this date, it seems everyone is saying they did not know about Amber. | ||
| Jan 16 |
1:46 Between Scott and Brent Rocha - Scott - "I made a boat anchor with some cement and I put some in the driveway here" Brent say "so they are piecing all of this together? Scott "Yea, piecing together" Brent says "Circumstantial" Brent "So the police have already asked you about the cement?" Scott - "Oh yea..." |
They played more of this tape in court and Brent asks Scott "so what happen to the other 80lbs. of cement, this is a guess where he claims he used it in the driveway.
| Jan 17 | The family is told that Scott Peterson took out a $250,000 life insurance policy on his wife. | This policy was taken out shortly after Laci found out she was pregnate, however it is unknown if she knew about the policy. | ||
| Jan 20 | The volunteer center closed as well as the schuled one day opening of a LA center was cancled as support for Scott dwindled in the wake of his affiar with Amber. | Some volunteers even reported not feeling comfortable around Scott. | ||
| Jan 21 | When Scott arrived home from his Los Angeles
outing on Sunday night, January 19, 2003, he found that his and Laci's
home on Covena Avenue had been burglarized. Modesto Police spokesman Doug
Ridenour called the break-in "bizarre," but said it had no connection to
Laci's disappearance. He said nothing of significance was taken from the
home. Later, police released a written statement which said, in
part:
Modesto Police Sgt.
Michael Zahr added, "We are currently investigating the break-in, and we are not prepared to release much
information. Detectives are working on leads that may solve this case soon.'' |
I think this break in was not to take things, but possibly to put things back, like Laci's shirt that was found in the next search, 3 weeks from this event. The shirt was not found in the first search on Dec 27, 2002.
| Jan 22 | 5:39 Scott calls Brian and discusses the sale of his house and says he wants to know what happens because both he and Laci's name is on the title. Brian answers "I will check on that tomorrow" a moment later Scott says "Kind of keep it quiet" Brian says "Oh I won't say a word to anyone, don't worry about that" Scott asks - "can I sell it furnished" Brian replies - "I am sure, is that what you want to do?" Scott - "umm - I don't know, I don't know" | He is not talking to the media yet and Laci is still considered a missing person. | ||
| Jan 24 |
Amber goes public by holding a press conference at Modesto Police Department, just days before the story is about to break in the tabloids that Scott had a "mistress". She tells how she was told by her friend that Scott was not married as well as says Scott told her "He was unmarried"
http://www.courttv.com/trials/peterson/photo_gallery/amber/index.html?curPhoto=8 |
A person is single or , divorced, or widowed, there is no such thing as "unmarried", one can not be unmarried unless they have a legal annulment.
| Jan 29 |
Scott makes another call to Brian Argain and asks about selling home and if he can sell it furnished. 3:32 Scott speaks with Brian Argain about selling the home and gets the news that he would probably need a court order to sell the home because both he and Laci's names are on the title. He then inquires about renting the house and Brian let's him know it is pretty easy, Scott says "Great" In an interview Scott claims he cut himself on the toolbox of his truck, on the morning of Dec 24th, and that is where the blood the police found, came from. |
Why does Scott want to sell the home so badly, even furnished. And when Scott finds out it would be hard to sell the home because Laci is still on the title, Scott asks about renting the home, again, this seems very odd to me.
| End of Jan | Scott sells Laci's Truck. | Can we determine by this point Scott knew Laci was not returning, otherwise why sell her truck? | ||
| Jan 30 | Scott got a message from reporter Rita Cosby that someone that looked like Laci was "sighted" in Longview, Washington and that he should call the Longview PD. 9 minutes later when he speaks with friends he claims he "called Longview". Phone records do not show Scott calling the Longview PD until the next day. | It does not seem that Scott acts very quickly on this tip, I wonder why. | ||
| Jan 31 |
Scott speaks with a reporter Michael Rio and Rio says "I am back on the beat dude" and continues "I am still on your side" before the conversation ends 11:23 Rita Cosby calls Scott and asks for a interview in a message, while listening to the message Scott says "F*ck You" .11:25 Scott speaks with Eric Olsen Scott calls the Longview, Washington PD but is referred to the Modesto Police Dept., but does find out that "it was not Laci" Erases 2 other calls, including one from his Mother that he only listens to a portion of each message. 4:09 Other members of the media leave messages that Scott skips and deletes, even an offer from Larry King Live for an interview. |
When Scott listens to the Rita Cosby call and says "F*ck You", this is one of the first showing that he does have a temper of sorts and when he thinks he is alone, he slips, I think. I wonder why Scott did not want to talk to Larry King or other reporters in an effort to help find his missing wife.
| Feb 1 | 10:55 PM Speaks with Amber, at one point they spoke of the "Laci sighting" | What is Scott still doing talking to Amber is beyond me. | ||
| Feb 4 | Wire taps end on Scott Peterson | While these wiretaps ended on Scott, Amber still was recording calls by consent. | ||
| Feb 8 | Scott to Amber "You already know all the answers, you already guessed them" I think this call was from a pay phone (check) | What did Scott mean by this "you already guessed everything"? Could it be when she was asking him about how Laci disappeared? | ||
| Feb 10 |
This was Laci's due date, although Scott told Amber the due date was Feb 16th, eventhough it was reported in the newspaper that the due date was Feb 10th.. Also on this day was Amber Frey's Birthday. Scott called her and told her he left some gifts for her in a shopping bag in a parking lot. She went to the location and picked up the bag. Inside the bag was a necklace and a Nora Jones CD "Come away with me". |
Scott obviously took time to think about and purchase the B-day items for Amber, but why, is he hoping she is "still on his side"?
| Feb 18 | Second Search warrant served. | In this search, from what was reported, they found the shirt Laci was wearing on the 23rd, balled up in a drawer. It was missed before, why? And where had the shirt been for the first search? | ||
| End of Feb |
Amber met up with a former boss that she worked with, who is now her current fiancée. She worked for him between March 2002 - Oct 2002 then Amber branched out on her own. Two months after Laci was missing, they became close and are looking forward to working on their future. |
Personally I am glad Amber got away from Scott before anything else bad could happen.
| March 5 | Laci's disappearance is reclassified as a "homicide" | I am not sure what, if anything the police had to reclassify the case, but it was not for 6 more weeks or so until the bodies were discovered. | ||
| April 14 |
The remains of Laci and Connor were found on the shore of the Berkeley Marina, within miles of where Scott Peterson was "fishing" on the day his wife went "missing". The extensive search for Laci included regular searches in San Francisco Bay. The partial corpse of Laci and her unborn son, Connor, washed up on shore in April. After the gruesome discovery, divers continued searching the waters for more evidence.
|
When the bodies were found on the shores of the Bay they were just a mile from where Scott placed himself at the Berkeley Marina.
| April 15 | Wire taps resumed on Scott Peterson | Knowing things were about to happen, I feel, Police put the wiretaps back on to get any additional evidence. | ||
| April 18 | Four months after her disappearance, Scott Peterson was arrested for
the murders of his wife and unborn son. Peterson was captured in San Diego
after police pulled him over driving a Mercedes-Benz.
At the time of his arrest, Peterson had grown a beard and dyed his dark brown hair blond. He was also carrying $10,000 in cash and his brother's identification.
|
The vehicle that Scott was arrested in was not under his name, he used his brothers Identification when asked for ID. He also at some point dyed his hair and grew a goatee, which he also dyed blonde. It was also reported he had camping gear in the car as well as 4 different Identifications.
| April 20 |
Scott Peterson was arraigned on two counts of murder on April 20, 2003, and could face the death penalty if convicted.
|
Scott pleads "Not Guilty" to the charges of double murder and is kept in custody for the up coming trail.
| May 4 | Memorial held for Laci, it would have been her 28th Birthday. | |||
| May 2003 |
Peterson went back to his roots for a May 2003 pretrial hearing, appearing in court with his natural brown hair color and a clean-shaven face.
Because he faces two murder charges, one for his wife and one for his unborn son, Peterson, seen with his attorney, Mark Geragos, is eligible for the death penalty under California law.
Peterson wanted all members of the media and the public barred from his preliminary hearing, arguing bombshell exculpatory evidence might tip off the “true” perpetrators. Superior Court Judge Al Girolami denied that request, but prevented cameras in the court for the proceeding.
|
What will be the outcome of this case? Can the state prove it's case? Or will the defense show enough "reasonable doubt" to get Scott off? |
Laci and Connor will always be in our hearts and prayers and can only pray that the truth comes out and Justice is served.
